Welcome back to Stab in the Dark. By now you’ve seen what Julian Wilson did with our collection of cleanskin boards from the world’s best shapers. You also know that Darren Handley (DHD) won. But, now it’s time to meet the gentry behind the other crafts that made for such compelling viewing in our mini-documentary.

Tim Stamps is a 47-year-old based in Huntington Beach, and he’s been shaping for 27 of those years. In the last year he’s shaped 1,100 boards, but only one was for Julian Wilson (which he didn’t know at the time).

“I reckon it’d go great in chunky barrels where the force of the wave is your speed generator,” says Julian Wilson of the Stamps Stab in the Dark model, board #05.

Please, meet Mr Stamps above.
